Extension bid refused

A GOVERNMENT inspector upheld a decision by the North York Moors National Park planning committee to refuse permission for a conservatory at the rear of a house in Robin Hood's Bay.
Applicants Rita Nolan and Megan Moreland of Thorpe Lane, appealed against the decision made by the national park plannners to refuse permission for the conservatory on the grounds that it would have a detrimental impact on the appearance of the house and the surrounding area.
But Government inspector Christopher Anstey agreed with the planning committee and said other nearby extensions at houses did not project out as far as the one proposed and therefore did not appear so disproportionate.
