BUILDERS stopped a house fire taking hold in Whitby's St Hilda's Terrace on Tuesday morning.
They had been working in the unoccupied property when a window frame was accidentally set alight.

A fire crew from Whitby arrived at the scene at 9am and the builders had already managed to put out the fire.

They used a hose reel to make sure it was out and checked the property over with their thermal imaging camera.

They left around two hours later after completing the safety checks.

No smoke damage was caused to the house.
