THERE will be plenty of fun and games at East Whitby School thanks to fund-raising efforts to buy a range of new equipment for the school's two playgrounds.
And a £500 donation from offshore company BP Magnus will help to provide the new equipment.
Acting school head Tony Mok said children on the school’s council had worked with the equipment firm’s designer to ensure they get what they want for their playgrounds. They are also helping with the fund-raising.
He said: “One child’s father works for BP Magnus and knew they donate to charity so the children wrote to the firm asking for help for the play equipment.
“They were delighted with the £500 and have written back to thank the firm.”
Mr Mok said the estimated cost of the equipment is upwards of £20,000 which will include a climbing wall and other adventure-style pieces.
“At present we have about £8,000 so we’re working hard on the fund-raising,” he said.
