Heroes running their way to town

LOCAL soldiers are taking part in a gruelling coast to coast charity run across the country which passes through Whitby on Wednesday at approximately 3pm and will meet the Mayor Steve Smith.
Between them the runners will average a marathon a day over nine days.
In total around 250 miles will be covered to raise money for a variety of charities.
The principal charity will be Help for Heroes, the charity which assists soldiers injured on operations.
The runners will meet with the mayor at each of the major towns they pass through.
The team will include at least one soldier from each of the destination towns.
A team of soldiers from 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) are among those preparing for the challenge.
A support team will be on hand with collection buckets for people to donate.
Captain Andy Bell, of 2 Yorks, said: “This will symbolise us returning to our spiritual homes as we are running through the communities from where we recruit our soldiers.
“It’s going to be a hard challenge, but we’ll get a big lift when our families and friends cheer us through our home towns.”
The challenge begins on Monday in Blackpool.
