THE third annual Whitby Gazette Pride of Whitby Awards takes place tonight at the Pavilion in a ceremony up there with the Oscars and the Brit Awards.
Over 300 people will gather for the sold-out charity event which features an auction of promises where bidders can win ‘money can’t buy’ prizes, and a raffle of more than 50 items donated by local businesses and tradesmen.

The 21 nominees in the magnificent seven have been nominated by the Whitby public for their services to the town.

It is hoped the event will break the £2,000 mark this year and every penny raised on the night will be donated to charities chosen by readers of the Whitby Gazette.

Those attending will be treated to a sumptuous buffet drawn up by award-winning chef Rob Green and prepared by chefs from RAF Fylingdales and Whitby Pavilion.

l SEE Tuesday’s Whitby Gazette for pictures and reaction from Whitby’s big night.
