THE weather, although unsteady, was kind and stayed dry for the annual dressage competition at Manor House Farm on Sneaton.
BD judge, Kirsty Parrish, was pleased with the standard and the effort everyone made to ride complicated tests accurately, especially the young fledgling riders Briege Robertson (9) riding Rag Dolly and Marion Terry (9) riding Cinderella.
Class one,
the talent spotting test, was won by under 25 rider Marianne Rafferty from Cayton riding her own mare Zofe.
The pair achieved an excellent score of 79%. Marianne used this test as a practice for the British Dressage Regional Talent Spotting Competition at Willerby Hill Competition Centre.
Second was Lorraine Watson from Staintondale, riding Class Act, a young home-bred mare which is becoming quite established in her work, scoring a very respectable 77.6% and then winning both the novice and elementary classes.
Third, also achieving prize for best junior, was Eldon Trotter (16), riding Bailey owned by Helen Welburn.
Eldon had only been training and riding Bailey for six weeks prior to the competition. He rode a confident, well prepared test and scored a credible 75.3%.
Trainer Sylvia Richardson was proud of how well everyone rode their horses and ponies and how much everyone has improved over the year.
Group training sessions are held fortnightly at Manor House Farm by permission of Mr and Mrs R Wilkinson.
