Pony club into final after tie-break

THE Glaisdale Pony Club senior games team had a successful day at the area games competition hosted by the Badsworth branch at Wooley Edge near Wakefield.
After an early start, their hard work cleaning and polishing was rewarded with a win in the tack and turnout competition before the games began.
Against stiff competition from 13 other clubs, they progressed into the finals of all but one of the eight different races and by the end of the last race they were in equal fourth place.
As only the first four teams go on to the next round, they then had to compete in a tie-break race to determine final placings.
Their supporters could hardly bear to watch and the cheers as the Glaisdale team crossed the line first could probably be heard in Glaisdale.
They therefore claimed fourth place, qualifying for the next round, known as the zone finals, which take place at Newcastle on 5 and 6 July.
This is the first time in 10 years the club has achieved this so good luck to the team of Kristina Hide riding Pebbles, Anna Wood on Tango, Harriet Beecroft on Leo, Sarah Little on Dansa and Sara Hall on Mickey.
